Goneril and Regan reduce Lear to the state of a beggar. The ingratitude of his daughters hurts Lear the most. A great storm arises. Lear chooses to venture into the storm rather than remain with his wicked daughters. He wanders through the bleak and stormy landscape with only the faithful Kent and his jester. There, he loses his mind.
