Who is Nell in the story, I Will Survive, from the collection, Table For Two?

Nell is the long-term partner of Jeremy, who narrates "I Will Survive." At the beginning of the story, Nell is clearly skeptical of and irritated with her mother, Peggy, when Peggy begins complaining that her husband (Nell's stepfather), John, is having an affair outside the house, but reluctantly agrees to help when Peggy asks her to tail John through the city.
