In chapter 6 of Night and Day, why did Miss Isobel come to visit the narrator and her mother?

Miss Isobel came early to the narrator's house. She told the narrator and her mother that the cashboxes were gone with nearly 300 pounds in them. There was no sign of a break-in. Someone had let themselves in overnight.
