What attitude does the narrator have toward living things ?

While she does not believe it is wrong to kill some living things, she is momentarily sickened by the killing of the fish. She battles herself over the feeling and remembers justifying her fishing by telling herself the fish had chosen to be caught and so forgave her for killing them.
