She believes people hide their real motives with words. She describes others' emotions as "appropriate" to a situation, or perceives them to be false representations of what a person is thinking, as in the case of Bill Malmstrom, who expresses sympathy over her father's disappearance. She also continually identifies the dichotomy between David and Anna's playfulness and ugliness with one another.
