Describe the character of Paul.

Paul appears to be an old-fashioned and capable man, to whom family means a great deal. He is self-sufficient and kind and has surrounded himself with family, building their homes himself. Paul wants to help the narrator out of respect for her father, and though he has already searched unsuccessfully for the man, Paul understands her need to stay and search for herself. He does not appear to judge the narrator, though she is very different than she appears to be.
