How do the Mods practice the "norms" of the mass culture and traditions of a subculture?

During the day, the Mods lives as "model citizens" by practicing the traditions that are considered normal behavior, such as going to work and school. During the night, they indulge in some of the elements of the black culture. These "elements" include dress and music. Although they are able to identify with some of the factors that make up the black culture, they consider themselves a separate entity from the black people.
