Arthur Gerard (STrangers on a Train) is the detective that investigates the death of Mr. Bruno Sr. He is a family friend and immediately suspects Bruno Jr since it is well known that he has strange proclivities. He finds the connection between Guy and Bruno and figures out that the murders were only months apart. This leads to Bruno's suicide and Guy's arrest.
