Who is Granero from Story of the Eye and what is their importance?

Granero is a matador. He is described as good looking and well liked. In comparison to the other matadors, Granero stands out as classy and appealing. Simone is excited at the propect of watching Granero's performance and thrilled that he is coming to dinner after the fights. Unfortunately, Granero is gored and gravely injured. We are not apprised of what happens afterward, except that the narrator was excited by the scene.
