What does Verna point out to Richard on the way to the Palace and how does he feel about it?

Sister Verna shows Richard the Hagen Woods and warns him that none go in there and if anyone lets the sun set on them while in the Hagen Woods, they die. Richard doesn't say anything but feels called to the woods despite Sister Verna's warning.
