Who is Mrs. Noble from Stone Butch Blues and what is their importance?

Mrs. Noble is Jess's high school English teacher. She sees the poetry in Jess long before Jess herself does. She is saddened when Jess announces she's going to drop out of high school. She knows that Jess is smart enough to go to college, but to Jess that is a financial impossibility.
