Why does Jason hire Tyler to care for him?

Tyler is a trusted confidant of Jason's and thus Jason can trust Tyler not to reveal Jason's physical condition to E. D. Jason does not want his father to see him with any weakness, be it physical or intellectual, so he can rely on Tyler to help him perpetuate the myth of Jason's health.
