Because time moves so much faster outside of Spin, the anticipated "end of the world" caused by the decaying sun is a key to the future of life under the Earth's Spin. It creates a world where the life of every young person will be cut short and everything that they build is doomed from the start to burn to ashes before its time. It is safe to say that life on Earth will not seem significant if individuals alive in the present cannot assume the world will go on after them.
