The Martian ambassador says that this is the most advanced technology ever developed on Mars. He adds that once launched in the right environment, the replicators multiply and form a network in an unpredictable but somehow limited fashion. The network then relays the information it gathers back to civilization. It is their only hope of learning anything about the Hypotheticals and the meaning of the Spin.
