One possible piece of foreshadowing in this chapter might be that when Tyler packs up his mother's souvenirs and finds that one of the boxes, marked "Mementos (school)" has vanished. There must be some reason this box has vanished and it is likely to appear later, or at least the reason for its disappearance will probably be made clear.
