Who is Aunt Betty from Spencerville and what is their importance?

Aunt Betty is Keith's mother's cousin. She takes care of the Landry farm when none of the family is in the area. Betty invites Keith to her home several times during his time in Spencerville, often encouraging Keith to date one of the young, eligible women in town. Aunt Betty is something of a comic relief to the plot.
