The novel is written in the third person point of view, and for the most part is narrated through the eyes of Keith Landry. There are, however, several chapters that are told through the thoughts and actions of other characters, including Annie and Cliff Baxter. The third person point of view is omniscient, thus, the author exposes the reader to the thoughts, emotions, and actions of each character who is narrating that particular section of the novel.
The writer's style is laid back. He takes his time in developing the plot, which allows the suspense to build up over the course of the novel. To do this, he uses simple language that is not complicated in order to stay in tune with his setting and characters.
