Who is Penrose from Something Wonderful and what is their importance?

Penrose is Alexandra's nearly-deaf servant. Both Filbert and Penrose were too old and sick to find employment elsewhere after Alexandra's father died, so out of kindness she took care of them and let them hold onto their dignity by giving them odd jobs around the house.
