Why do Ethan and Darcy take a cultural tour of London?

The two spend the day together because it is the American Thanksgiving holiday, but no one celebrates it in London. Darcy wants to go shopping again, but Ethan is appalled that Darcy has not taken in more of the city. He takes her on a tour of his favorite places and tells her about the cultural and historical significance of the various spots.
