Who is Rheya from Solaris and what is their importance?

Rheya is an imitation of Kelvin's nineteen-year-old love Rheya. Rheya killed herself after Kelvin left her. She is a projection of Kelvin's memory, made real by the ocean of Solaris through unknown means and for unknown reasons.
