By conducting a study, the Center for Policing Equity (CPE) discovered “that blacks were almost 4 times more likely to be subject to force from police--including force by hand (such as hitting and choking), pepper spray, taser, and gun--than white people” (73). In addition, black people were three-and-a-half to four times more likely to be fatally shot by a police officer during an interaction than were their white counterparts.
