the theme is the voice of the 'other': which refers to the voice of woman a black woman in a patriachal socety. senegal a muslim dominated country, with laws favouring man and oppresing woman, making womans the 'other' like the are there to complete man. man can be talked about without mentioning woman but when talking about a woman they relate her to a man. the author is just voicing out womans view, feelings and their ideal society.
