What is the main conflict in Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut?

I think that the conflict is largely internal. Billy Pilgrim is trying to reconcile random moments in his life with his past and his present reality. Billy has internalized the senseless violence of WW2 and cannot process his reality in a healthy way. I think Billy has a bad case of PTSD from his war ordeal.
