Style-the way an author arranges his or her words, sentences, and paragraphs into prose--is one of the most difficult aspects of literature to analyze. However, it should be noted that Slaughterhouse-Five is written in a very distinctive style. In describing overwhelming, horrible, and often inexplicable events, Vonnegut deliberately uses a very simple, straightforward prose style.
