in slaughterhouse five, how does billy differ from the kind of characters that are used to reading about both heroic and crazy

I think this is asking for your opinion rather than mine. I will say that Billy is not your most sympathetic protagonist. He has been mentally and emotionally damaged by war. He cannot reconcile his post-war reality to what he had experienced.
