Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Why does Gawain consider himself the knight best qualified to accept the challenge? Asked by bookragstutor on 28 Nov 08:47 Last updated by Jill W on 13 Aug 11:32
Gawain considers himself the most chivalrous of the knights. He also takes up the challenge because no one else steps forward. When Arthur takes the challenge, Gawain steps in to protect him.
