Bruno 'Lefty' Bicek is a young Polish boy. He is a member of the Baldhead True American Social and Athletic Club, a Chicago gang. Lefty is initially arrested for robbing a local Polish man at gunpoint. Over the course of his interview, however, it is revealed that the man has died of a gunshot wound. To the police, Lefty is viewed as a low Polish immigrant. To them, Lefty is merely a criminal, and although he has talent, he is merely one of many who will spend the remaining years of his life in jail. Lefty's character is a symbol of wasted youth in American gangs, both past and present.
