Shandia represents Jim's missionary work. Shandia is a missionary station set high on a cliff above the Atun Yaku river. Here the Shandia River and Napo come together. Here Jim uses his medical skills to reach out to the Indians, builds a clinic and school and not only witnesses death but takes part in the Indian customs in an effort to reach them for Christ.
