Who is Curtis?

Curtis is a young black man who uses the garden to attract the attention of Lateesha, a girl who he once dated but did not treat her like he should have. Realizing that he let a good girl go, Curtis demonstrates his love for Lateesha by planting tomatoes, her favorite food, in the garden. Even though Curtis’ friends make fun of him, Curtis does not lash out at them because he wants Lateesha to understand there is more to him than just his brute strength. When he dated Lateesha previously, Curtis had been obsessed with his muscles and working out. With his tomato project, Curtis wants to show to Lateesha that he has grown and matured.
