How does the author use foreshadowing in Sapphique?

In Chapter Eleven, it appears as if the men that build the prison gave it the power to create others. The prison is responsible for creating Sapphique and giving him the powers he has by giving him the glove. This also foreshadows that the prison is the one that has the power to take Sapphique down, which is probably what happened to Sapphique.
