Being a woman during this time in history was not fun. Women were severely regulated in what they can do, where they could go, how they could dress and how they should think. They were powerless to do much in society. However, when they cried 'witch' and gained attention and 'power' to a degree, it was very attractive and had its certain appeal. Normal girls who otherwise would never think to harm a neighbor suddenly found that they had the power of someone's life in their hands. Eventually, over a course of years this pattern began to be noticed and the fabric that had been stretched tightly over Puritan society began to come unraveled. It was unsustainable and the women were once again removed from having any say on anything.
