Horrible

This was one of the worst books I've ever read, if only solely because both main characters are shitty caricatures of a human being. I mean seriously, I get that it's just a book and it's not like it was supposed to be meaningful or realistic or anything, but it was just. The worst I've ever seen. The smut, it was okay. Nothing to write home about, but it was spicy enough to bother not just skipping the scenes altogether. But good god, the interactions between Mia and Gabe were completely illogical, and any self respecting woman would have immediately given the contract straight to her brother so he would either A. Kill that arrogant prick Gabe- or B. Beat him to the brink of death and then publicly ruin any bit of his reputation there was left from the fiasco with his first wife. But hey, the story might not've been so bad if the contract had been the worst of it, but no. That fucker gets her straight up raped by some folks she hardly knew when she had already expressed she didn't want other people involved in their sex life before she had even handed over the signed contract. And then. She. F o r g i v e s h i m. She stays in relationship with the person she should have been able to trust, and did trust, with no bounds, but who is also the person who utterly failed her in the worst way possible. I have no words (lying, I have all the words). She should have killed him at many points during their relationship, but this, at the very least, should've been the one instance where she slit his throat in his sleep. Her brother could've covered it up, it would've been fine. Setting all that aside, when she was pissed off at him(understandably), for dropping her like a dead fish as soon as her brother found them out, after all the rapey stuff she'd been through, he did not accept her rejection and clear 'fuck off' signs. No you know what he did instead to try and 'win her back'? He proposed. Publicly. In fact, it was the most public proposal he could've possibly done, short of broadcasting it over the tv. And y'know why I hate her too besides her putting up with everything else? She said yes, and it's implied that they go on to have a dozen little fucklings cause that makes sense (sarcasm). Just the worst story I've ever read, and I live on Ao3.
