Who is Chappie from Rule of the Bone?

Chappie is a young teenager from Au Sable, New York. He has just reached the age of rebellious behavior, which is evident in his choice of hair style (mohawk), jewelry (nose ring), and use of marijuana. When the novel opens, Chappie is enrolled in summer school and hoping to make it into high school.
