The two make a sort of snare out of their belts to catch Hamlet, and Rosencrantz's pants fall down around his ankles without his belt on. Hamlet enters the stage opposite from where they are, dragging the body of Polonius. Hamlet leaves, still dragging the body, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern relax their belts, which Hamlet never came near.
