Why does Capulet discourage Tybalt from confronting Romeo?

Capulet says he does not want to disturb his guests at the party, and says that Romeo is behaving like a gentleman at the party. Capulet is also offended by Tybalt's disrespectful behavior and eventually sends Tybalt away angrily.
