After Fay is abducted, Jane says that she gives up. Gives up what? What is her state of mind? How will she survive?

Jane is being worn down, and when Fay is abducted she gives up all hope of ever living a normal life again. Jane knows that she has lost everything, but now knows she will lose her home too. Survival for Jane will be difficult is she does not find Fay, as I think she will become like Lassiter, and hate all Mormons and seek revenge.
