Describe the Hawthorne family farm that Jack works on a year and a half later. What has changed? What remains the same?

It is August and harvest time on the farm. Dale, Jack's father, has been gone for three weeks and no one is sure he will return. Jack is still working in the fields, still quiet and off to himself most of the time, lost in his own guilt and sadness. Phoebe and her mother are still working in the kitchen, cooking for the family and the farm hands.
