Jack realizes his tales of woe are simply manipulations in order to gain the love of the characters in his stories. He begins to feel even worse, aware of his own evil nature, and begins to contemplate suicide. When this happens, Jack becomes weak and has to stop the tractor, get off, and sit for a few minutes to regain his composure.
