The royal family makes up a story to explain Mare and her powers. They say that her father was Ethan Titanos, general of the Iron Legion, killed when Mare was a baby. A soldier, a Red man, took Mare for his own and raised her without telling her about her parentage. She grew up believing she was a Red, but now they say that she has been revealed and restored to her birthright as a lady of a lost High House.
