How does the author use foreshadowing in Reaper Man?

On pg. 36, the wizards are discussing the matter of Windle's undeath, as they would prefer that Windle were dead. The narrator digresses for a moment to foreshadow: Somewhere in a cellar, a dark cupboard is filling with mysterious objects.
