Who is Jeremy from Rainbow Boys and what is their importance?

Jeremy is the handsome new guy that joins Rainbow Youth, and the guy everyone has a crush on. After Nelson's encounter with Brick, he learns that Jeremy is HIV positive, and that the diagnosis no longer equated to a death sentence.
