The main conflict in Pygmalion is class or class structure, directly relating to an individual's inability to move from one class to another. Class was determined by birthright. In his play, Shaw successfully challenges the belief that nature or inherent right determines class, by showing that nurturing or educating an individual prove this theory incorrect. Social structure does not dictate superiority.
