Ethan Mack is from Kilberry in Western Scotland. Forty years ago, he followed a girl named Cindy, who had been spending her holidays in Scotland. They lived in New York City at first. Then They bought a VW van and drove across the country. Somewhere near the Oregon border, they married. Weeks later in Aberdeen, Washington, the van's transmission failed. Ethan tried to fix it, but it was unfixable. In the morning, Cindy was gone. Ethan liked Aberdeen, and he worked there as a longshoreman until he retired at 55. He needed something to do, so he started working at the Shop-Way. Then, he gathered up his savings and bought the place.
