What is Victor's opinion of Sybil? Is it surprising? Why?

Victor finds Sybil to be stupid and insipid. Despite this, though, he is trying to help her as best as he can, as a proper gentleman should. It is rather surprising that it should work out this way, as Sibyl is very calm and non-threatening, which appears to be what Victor wants Amanda to be. It can be suggested that, despite his ways, Victor prefers a woman of Amanda's spirit more than a dutiful wife.
