In what ways were Pretty-shield's people tough?

Pretty-shield stated that her people were tough because they would build a fire to get dry if they were wet, if someone fell into icy water that person would take of their clothes and roll in the snow. The people would rub their hands with snow and sand to make their hands and fingers more nimble.
