Jacob Todd (the elder) from Postcards from No Man's Land was a solider during World War II when he becomes wounded. He seeks santuary with a local family who heal him back to health. He falls for the daughter of the family and they promise to wed. Jacob dies from a heart attack weeks before the end of the war.
