What proposition does Ollerenshaw have for the sheriff?

When the sheriff asks Ollerenshaw to surrender, Ollerenshaw tells the sheriff that he has a proposition for him. He tells the sheriff that there is $20,000 in gold hidden somewhere. He has Mac Boat with him, and the man can tell him where the gold is buried. He proposes that they share the gold.
