What does Martin tell Silas to do when men with guns come in the night in Chapter 1?

Three men who come in the night want Martin, who they call Mac Boat, to come with them. Their boss, Roscoe Ollerenshawj, has a business proposition for him that will give Martin a lot of money. They simply want him to come for a week's work and then they say that he can go back home.
