When Dillard imagines viewing creation from a great height, it is as if she is trying to gain God's perspective. In viewing creation through the perspective of time, it is easier to understand the evolution of life in its infinite variety. Dillard ultimately concludes that the most she can do is appreciate the beauty and grace of creation, even though she may never understand the whys of creation.
