How does Dillard relate the plankton to the Eskimo learning about Christianity and to herself?

The story about the plankton milling around and Dillard wondering if she, too, is just milling around is significant in that Dillard is suggesting that perhaps she is as unaware of what she is doing as the plankton. The Eskimo, too, is ignorant before the priest tells him about Jesus. Once the Eskimo learns of the Christian belief that Jesus saves humans from their sins, ignorance is no longer an excuse. Dillard may believe that she, too, will be responsible for whatever she learns during her life, and she may sometimes wish to be ignorant.
